The project ambition

Sonar-Cities is funded under Horizon Europe’s Disaster-Resilient Societies cluster. The project aims to enhance the resilience of European cities in the face of health emergencies and disasters by promoting the inclusion of marginalized or excluded populations in preparedness and response efforts. Through the co-development of tools with at-risk communities, frontline responders, and local authorities, the initiative seeks to mitigate both the immediate and long-term health consequences of such crises.

Mobilizing Social Sciences against Infectious Threats

Sonar-Global is an association whose scope of action includes preparedness and response to epidemics, vaccine hesitancy, and the prevention of antimicrobial resistance. All Sonar-Global partners work in the field of “infectious threats”. As social scientists, we recognize that efforts to tackle these threats may be ineffective if complex social, political, economic and ecological contexts are not addressed.  With a global network of social scientists, the Association is responsible for creating the Social Sciences Emergency Response Network for the Sonar-Cities project. It is also available to support efforts to develop and implement rapid research for epidemic preparedness and response.
