The Sonar-Cities consortium held its first project-wide meeting in Paris from 9-11 December 2024 to celebrate a successful proposal and the start of our project activities.
Representatives of our 12 partner organisations from eight European countries (Austria, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Croatia, Sweden and Belgium) attended the three-day event. We were
joined by colleagues from the Sonar-Global Association and members of our Scientific Advisory Board, who included representatives of the World Health Organisation and the Netherlands Institute for Public Safety.
The main focus of the meeting was to discuss our work program in depth and to plan our activities, implementation, timelines and integration. It was also an occasion for the first Sonar-Cities General Assembly and Executive Board to be convened. We also welcomed a presentation by Dr. Rim Kwang (WHO) on Health Emergency prevention, preparedness, response and resilience (HEPR), with a focus on community protection.
The kick-off was the first of four project-wide meetings planned over the duration of Sonar-Cities.
